TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games opened on July 23. More than 70 sets of podiums for the victory ceremonies of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games have been officially announced. The symbols on it and the internal frame structure are all cut by a Bodor 2kW laser cutting machine.

The podium was designed by Asao Tokoro and made of recycled plastic and aluminum. This will be the first in the history of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The design based on the concept of 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) demonstrates a new model of a sustainable society. The podium also uses aluminum scrap from temporary housing units built for families affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011.

Exactly 10 years ago, the Great East Japan Earthquake destroyed the Tohoku region of Japan. These discarded aluminum materials express the desire to unite people whose lives have been affected to overcome disasters, survive hardships, and transcend the old days.

In processing these aluminum scraps, laser cutting technology is used to shape them into Olympic symbols. Advanced laser technology is also closely related to the concept of recycling materials.

The concept of sustainable development in Tokyo 2020 is to make the planet and mankind better together. Upholding the vision of using laser technology to change human life, Bodo has a similar spirit. Since the beginning of Bodo's history in 2008, it has been committed to providing customers with better laser cutting solutions.
